DELTA FAIL!

*copy of what I just sent in to Delta via there customer service page*

This complaint is in regards to the exceedingly poor services my wife and I experienced on the 2nd of August. Traveling from myrtle beach to Atlanta, Atlanta to Chicago, Chicago to salt lake city, salt lake city to lewiston, ID.

The first flight we took was 5591 out of Myrtle Beach, SC to Atlanta GA. It was boarded late, took off late, and from information the pilot told us during the flight we were intentionally being flown in slower. This led us to miss our first connecting flight to Chicago.

When we got to Atlanta it was 1:40 or so and our initial connecting flight to Chicago midway (flight 1278) that took off at 1:30. We were told upon reaching the gate that we had been booked on the next flight to chicago at 2:30 (left from gate B20, not sure the flight number) we rushed to catch that flight to find that we had NOT been booked and were on standby. We were able to board the flight at the last second and left Atlanta for Chicago midway relatively on time. The actual flight to Chicago was pretty good till landing. We landed on time at 3:30PM and then were held on the runway for an hour and a half because there were "no gates" available for us to enter, even though during the hour and a half wait we saw no less than 8 planes land, go around us and go to a gate, some of those even took off again before we ever got to a gate. we were finally allowed to leave the plane a few minutes after 5PM.

When I checked in at myrtle beach that morning I had been given ALL the boarding passes I would need to get on my flights for the day. So we had about an hour and a 15 minutes before our 6:17 PM flight to salt lake city. the delta terminal at Chicago midway was a complete mess. the boards were not updated & every flight boarding that was extremely late. at about 6:30 PM we started boarding for our 6:17 departure to Salt Lake. we my wife and I reached the check in scanner both our boarding passes did not register and we were told we were not registered for that flight, even though WE WERE HOLDING BOARDING PASSES FOR IT. This upset me quite at bit and when I questioned how come they gave our seats away when we clearly had boarding passes and told the delta rep that this was a completely unacceptable way to do business, I was told that if I didn't move they would call the airport security. I was not the one who lost my boarding pass, I was not the one who gave our seats away, and I most certainly was not the one who had made every other DELTA flight we had that day late.
We waited again and again were given the last two available seats on the plane. by now it was after 7PM. once the plane was completely boarded we sat and waited. waited for the grounds crew, waited for paperwork, waited for weight checks. finally after several people got off the plane we took off, again over an hour and a half late. This poor service and late departure pretty much assured us that we were not going to make our final connecting flight home to lewiston ID once we reached salt lake city.

We arrived in Salt lake City about 9:40, our connecting flight to lewiston ID was gone. we then had to wait to get our new flight out on 8.3.09 and hotel reservations, then had to wait some more for the shuttle to the provided hotel to arrive. We finally got to our hotel room in salt lake that DELTA had provided just after 11:30 PM.

We were supposed to have landed home in Lewiston ID at 9:55 PM on 8.2. The first available flight to lewiston on 8.3 was 10:57AM, we arrived home about 11:35AM on 8.3. Almost 14 hours late, but if you factor in all the in flight delays and airport delays you can easily round up our lateness in arrival thanks to DELTA to 20 hours late.

As I told your associate in Chicago yesterday, this is completely unacceptable. The overall lack of service, failure to provide the services paid for in good faith to any measurable level of quality and the sheer contempt shown to your customers is staggering. Information as to why this happened was cryptic, or not given at all.

Delta failed to get us to any destination on time and failed to get us home at all on the date originally paid for. I feel that half to possibly full reimbursement to this fair is not to much to ask for given that Delta failed so completely at every stage of our trip home.

I hope this does not fall on deaf ears, and that I receive a proper reply and hopefully reimbursement regarding this situation.

So as anyone who still has me listed as a friend, and bothers to read this anymore might have noticed, I dont really post as much as I used to. (not that I was some prolific blogger in the first place)

Since most of my postings are just quick thoughts Ive gathered from a day or weeks time (most of which I forget before I get around to write them) I have joined the ranks of twitter for things of that nature. feel free to follow me there too.

http://twitter.com/beatnikslacker

that doesnt mean im killin this off, just less likely to post here.

watching the watchmen

The pitfall involved bringing a beloved property into a new medium is only as deep as the respect, praise, worship, and fandom that said property has garnered since it came into being. By that rational, the pitfall facing the adaptation of the Watchmen from comic/graphic novel into film could easily be represented by the Grand Canyon. A daunting task that many said shouldn’t be done and more said couldn’t be done, has been accomplished. Watchmen was released this Friday for an generally unprepared public to see on the big screen.

I say generally unprepared due to the crowd in my theater Friday. The concept of a hard “R” rated movie about superheros was lost on a few who thought it would be kid friendly enough to bring a 3 or 4 year old too. Needless to say, the kid didn’t make it through 40 mins before relentlessly acting up enough for the theater to turn against them and they had to leave. I was far enough away that it didn’t really bother me (much) but I was left wondering what on earth were these dumbass people thinking? I saw images in this movie that made me cringe a bit, I cant imagine subjecting a kid to process seeing what happens when Dr. Manhattan explodes gangsters from the inside out.

This is the anti-superman, batman deciding to kill, and mary jane fucking spiderman all rolled into one movie (in spirit I mean). Watchmen as a graphic novel introduced these elements into the comic realm and changed the medium. Watchmen as a movie introduces the same elements into the realm of the theatrical superhero movie. It earns its “R” with unflinching eye on reality that people subject other people to. The dark elements of human nature are explored completely by so called heros who are as crazy and flawed as the criminals they fight against.

Watchmen’s strength is its faithfulness to the source and its outstanding cast. It does narrow the focus of the plot from the graphic novel down to make it work better as a film, so if you’re a watch-purist you might find missing things that annoy you. For me the changes worked and still held true to the original spirit. The things that didn’t work for me were the sometimes awkward choices and use of music in the film. True many of the songs were used due to the use of their lyrics in the graphic novel, but using a lyric and using a song are two different things. Hendrix blasting against a snowscape kinda takes away the ominous urgent nature of the scene.

Minor musical annoyances aside, there is a great movie to see here. I look forward to a second viewing and to the longer cut of the film due out in june or july.

"healthy" eating.

ok. this healthy eating for children is getting outta control. apparently all the negative things in McDonald's cheeseburgers can be neutralized with apple slices and milk now. (not just mcdonalds...everywhere that sells a kids meal does it now)

but what I saw today just about killed me.

I was in Quiznos finishing up some toasted goodness when I saw a dad & son sit at the table over from me. the kid was Id say 6 to 8 years old, had a bowl of Quiznos chili and a bottle of 2% Milk to Drink with it.

chili and milk.

First, I sincerely doubt that a small bottle of milk makes eating quiznos chili any healthier. Secondly..and most important, who the hell thinks drinking milk and eating chili are a good combo in the first place??? how freaking disgusting can you be. Milk has its place at one meal time...breakfast. milk and chicken nuggets, milk and hamburgers...milk and any other lunch / dinner food just doesn't freaking cut it.

what a horrible barter kids today have to go through to get a happy meal.
"well you can have chicken nuggets..if you get apple slices and chocolate milk" fuck that noise. if chicken nuggets have to be eaten, they are to be eaten with a fry & coke.

I didnt stick around to see if the kid chugged the milk while throwing down on the chili, I just felt bad for him.

this that and the other

Attempting to watch the grammy's....and failing. I watched "match point" instead for the first two hours or so of the mess, when that was over I rewound as far as I could and then proceeded to fast forward over it again.

my biggest problem with the whole fiasco is horrible mash-ups of so called artists mixing songs together. sugarland and that chick that sings fucking chasing pavements (hands down one of the worst songs ive ever heard) those two dont mesh. none of it meshes...youve got a tribute to dean martin by rappers??? your lucky his and sinatras corpses dont rise up and feast on all of them. now that would be a show worth watching.

I did manage to see radiohead perform "15 steps" with a big ass marching band. only salvageable thing from this wreck.

_____________________________________

now onto things not as horrible as the grammys. did you go see Coraline this weekend? why the hell not?

...sorry....john mayer is singing with blues legends now.. FUCK THAT NOISE. jesus what a talentless bastard.

anyway...Coraline. see it. now. (well maybe not now as its 4 to 11 here...so see it tomorrow if you can...like after work but before dinner) it is absolutely spellbinding I tell you. the level of craft and storytelling put in this film is staggering, youll swear they cheated with CGI but youll be wrong. and knowing that just makes it that much more of an achievement. I cant recommend seeing this on the big screen enough. its truly something special.

___________________________________

I shredded close to 3 years of debit card receipts tonight. it took near 3 hours. If I ever shred anything else it will be too soon. but now that clears up my receipt holders for another 2 or three years. (I keep every receipt I use my card for...crazy I know)

__________________________________

finally got a diagnosis for my sinus troubles and since taking the medication I got on Thursday, I have been able to breath though my nose again...on a consistent basis.

keep in mind its been near 8 months since this started and ive been stuffed up Id say 95% of the time since then. so this is something. a step in the right direction. So Ill keep taking the stuff and hope it knock out whatever is causing this.

_________________________________

spacing out now. have a good one.

Year End: 2008

Where oh were does the time go. 2008 has already passed the point of no return and is just about to reach 88 miles per hour. But before a pair of fiery tracks leave us smack dab in 2009, let us reflect on the year that has been. As usual, order of ascension rules apply

Artists & Albums That Did Kick Ass In This Year Of Our Lord: 2008

Fleet Foxes – S/T & Sun Giant EP
Liam Finn – I’ll Be Lightning
Of Montreal – Skeletal Lamping
The Walkmen – You & Me
She & Him – Volume One
Sigur Ros – Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust
Brendan Canning – Something For All of Us
Sun Kil Moon - April

My favorite/most listened to band this year actually released two things this year. First listened to the fleet foxes cause they were the openers for wilco at a show I regretfully did not attend earlier this year. After falling in love with the Sun Giant EP I went ahead a bought their self titled album and was equally blown away by it. They possess this incredibly dynamic quiet sound that just flows from track to track. Its equal parts familiar and refreshing. I really cant wait to hear more from theses gentlemen, and am still kicking myself for not going to the show this year.

A close second to the fleet was the son of Neil Finn, Liam and his stunning debut album “Ill Be Lightening”. This one was on the outskirts of my musical radar till my good friend and musical compatriot Kevin gave it an outstanding recommendation. The praise he garnered for this album was truly justified as it remained in my cd player for damn near 3 solid weeks. In fact if I have a album that encapsulated the spring of this year, its this one.

The hodgepodge of sound that Kevin Barns and the rest of Of Montreal sexed together on Skeletal Lamping just grew and grew on me this year. At first listen I didn’t like it at much as there previous album, but shining moments of musical genius drew me into this freaked out landscape of sound. Now I cant help but listen to it from start to finish each time.

You and Me by the walkmen could be the most ominous album Ive heard this year. Everything sounds far away, like it was played down the hall from microphones recording it. And yet its startlingly intimate in its lyrics, vocal delivery and elegantly distorted guitar work. Been listening to it for months now and still find new things to love in it.

She & Him is easily the most sunny and upbeat thing that has made it on my list this year. Chock full of great pop Americana, M Ward and Zoony Dechenzel have spun together an album that sounds classic and fresh at the same time. Vol. 2 cant come soon enough (fortunately M. Ward’s new album is due early 2009)

Sigur Ros continues to create epic music that plays perfectly to the film of your life.”Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust” runs the gamut of heartbreaking to inspirational without looking back. Its been a great year for the band with this album and high profile releases like Prince of Persia and Slumdog Millionare featuring their music in there trailers. Hearing them in those things will only lead more people towards the band and this album, which is a great thing all around.

Of the two Broken Social Scene solo albums, I have to say I enjoy “Something for All of Us” far more than last years “Spirit If” Brendan Canning crafts some truly great rock that incorporates elements of the BSS without drowning the songs in complication . Its far more stripped down and raw. This album and the Walkmen make the guitar seem like an vital instrument again, instead of something that just happens to be there in the studio while recording.

And my final pick of the year goes to Sun Kil Moon’s “April”. Hauntingly beautiful melancholy captured in song. Mark Kozeleks vocals invoke sorrow, longing and love with the lightest whisper. Great sunset/early evening album.

Artists & Albums That Still Deserve Mention For 2008

Beck – Modern Guilt
Black Keys – Attack & Release
REM - Accelerate
Lou Reed – Berlin Live
David Bowie – Live: Santa Monica 72

Beck, Black Keys & REM are very close to my top 8 for 2008. In fact I might just be my current mood that has them here instead of up there. Modern Guilt is a good Beck album, but not a great beck album. I really dug this black keys album more than their previous one and REM didn’t leave my car for weeks and weeks. I think the thing that kept them out most is that even though I really like these albums….those above were better.

Lou & Bowie bow in cause these are two freaking fantastic live albums. If you are a fan of Bowie at all and didn’t pick up Live: Santa Monica 72 this year, kick yourself to the nearest store that would have it, or to Amazon and order it. The track listing is amazing, sound quality phenomenal. The price is…high, but completely worth it. Live Bowie at the height of his powers. I cant recommend this enough. And Lou + Live Berlin = Robbie overjoyed. Berlin has been my favorite Lou Reed album for years, and to hear this near perfect live recreation of this beautifully depressing masterwork is something ive been waiting for ever since the rumors of these shows first surfaced a few years ago.

Artists & Albums That Dropped The Ball In 2008

Ray Davies – Working Mans Café
Destroyer – Trouble In Dreams
Matthew Sweet – Sunshine Lies

This is mildly depressing. These are the three artists that were on my most anticipated releases for 2008 when I made last years list. Keep in mind that info on albums coming out in 2008 in late December is limited, but still to have all three end up disappointing me is unheard of.

Artists & Albums That Are Most Anticipated For 2009

M. Ward
Beirut
Minus 5

Lets just hope that these three impending releases in 2009 don’t suffer the same fate as last years three.

Albums I Should Have Listened to more in 2008

Magnetic Fields – Distortion
Mark Kozelek – Finally
Calexico – Carried To Dust

Both the Calexico and Magnetic Fields were in my car enough, but didn’t have the umph to get in the cd player over some others…and the Mark Kozelek just suffered from “purchased with Christmas money recently and hasn’t been absorbed yet” fate.

__________________________________________________________
Phase 2:

Films That Did Kick Ass In This Year Of Our Lord: 2008

The Dark Knight
Wall-E
Iron Man
Burn After Reading
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
In Bruges
Cloverfield
Gonzo: Life & Times of HST

Let me start by saying, this list will change. I have yet to see some fairly high profile titles this year and know that some of the above will be shuffled down the list. And im a stickler for only listing things I have seen this year, not thing I wished I could have seen already. But one thing that will not change is the Dark Knight as my favorite film this year. Hands down, nothing else comes close.

Films That Still Deserve Mention For 2008

Zack & Miri Make a Porno
Hellboy 2
Tropic Thunder

All good, but you can only have one favorite comedy of the year. And hellboy 2 just faced to much overwhelming greatness in the comic movie realm this year.

Films That I Really DID Want To See In 2008

Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Wrestler
Slumdog Millionaire
Let the Right One In

When? When will we get the Wrestler & Slumdog Millionaire??? I keep hoping and we keep getting bedtime stories, Madagascar 2, Four Christmases or Delgo… DELGO…worst box office opening of ALL TIME delgo. and we got that one the week it opened. As for the Curious Case of Benjamin Button, we just haven’t been able to find a time that was good to check it out yet.

Film That Im Proud to Have Missed In 2008

Mamma Mia

There were a lot of movies Im glad to have missed this year, but this easily takes top prize. There is only so much ABBA you should put yourself through in one lifetime…and I met and breached that requirement about middle of seeing the trailer the first time.

Films That Dropped The Ball In 2008

Indiana Jones & Kingdom of the Crystal Suck

Nuked the Fridge. Nuff Said.

Most Anticipated Theatrical Releases for 2009

WATCHMEN
Harry Potter & Half Blood Prince
Star Trek

Let me star by saying. Fuck fox, fuck warners and fuck paramount. Fuck Fox for being bitches and potentially killing Watchmen’s release at all. And Fuck warner & paramount for pushing back Potter 6 and Star Trek to 09 instead of the holiday 2008 releases they were supposed to be.

Those grievances aside, Ill be in theaters day one for all of these.

Phase 3:

DVD's That Did Kick Ass In This Year Of Our Lord: 2008

Cowboy Bebop: REMIX Complete Collection
L.A. Confidential SE
Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie
Space Ghost Coast to Coast: Vol. 5
Hellsing Ultimate: Vol. 5 SE
Samurai 7: Complete Series Viridian Collection
Iron Man: SE
Zodiac: Directors Cut

I found myself being way more choosey with the stuff I purchased, but this year did yield some really great stuff. The long awaited LA Con SE, the re-release of MST3K: the movie, and the epic 1999 season of Space Ghost Coast To Coast. The complete set of Cowboy Bebop is by far my favorite release of the year, in fact the new practice of reasonably priced complete series or season anime sets is the best thing to happen to DVD in 2008

DVD's That I Really Ment To Get In 2008

Bottle Rocket: CC
High & Low: CC
Cool Hand Luke

The Economy has curbed my purchases of Criterion Collection titles. That’s what Id like to say, but the truth is the inevitability of getting a Blu Ray player is the primary reason these, and other titles remain out of my grasp. Im sure an upgrade of equipment is in my future…so buying things that are getting simultaneously released on blu ray would just be a waste of money.

Most Anticipated DVD Releases for 2009

Here is where the crystal ball gets murky ladies and gentlemen. I have to say that outside of several anime titles and sets, I have no anticipated DVD titles for 2009. In fact the practices of DVD releases in 2008 has just about killed my enthusiasm for the format. The biggest detractor has been “Digital Copy Disks” that are completely unnecessary and usually add upwards of 10 bucks to the price of a DVD. Add to that decline in features and disk quality in general, it makes the allure of getting things on Blu Ray harder to resist. So buy now and buy again later…or don’t buy at all, those are the options my friends. And im weighing them carefully with each title released.

__________________________________________

HA! finished with two hours to spare!

Black Friday: It was only a matter of time I suppose.

If you had a stressful day working in retail today, this really puts things in perspective. Im thinking this will really change how retail works on this day drastically.

________________________________________________________

Worker dies at Long Island Wal-Mart after being trampled in Black Friday stampede
BY JOE GOULD
DAILY NEWS WRITER

A Wal-Mart worker died after being trampled when hundreds of shoppers smashed through the doors of a Long Island store Friday morning, police and witnesses said.

The 34-year-old employee, a temporary maintenance worker, tried to hold back the unruly crowds just after the Valley Stream store opened at 5 a.m.

Witnesses said the surging throngs of shoppers knocked the man down. He fell and was stepped on. As he gasped for air, shoppers ran over and around him.

CAUGHT ON CAMERA: WAL-MART CROWD MOMENTS BEFORE DEADLY STAMPEDE
"He was bum-rushed by 200 people," said Jimmy Overby, 43, a co-worker. "They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down too...I literally had to fight people off my back.
"

The unidentified victim was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:03 a.m., police said.

The cause of death wasn't immediately available pending results of an autopsy.

A 28-year-old pregnant woman was knocked to the floor during the mad rush. She was hospitalized for observation, police said. Early witness accounts that the woman suffered a miscarriage were unfounded, police said.

Three other shoppers suffered minor injuries, cops said.

Wal-Mart spokesman Dave Tovar called the incident a "tragic situation.
"

"The safety and security of our customers and associates is our top priority," Tovar said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families at this difficult time.
"

Before police shut down the store, eager shoppers streamed past emergency crews as they worked furiously to save the store clerk's life.

"They were working on him, but you could see he was dead, said Halcyon Alexander, 29. "People were still coming through.
"

Only a few stopped.

"They're savages," said shopper Kimberly Cribbs, 27. "It's sad. It's terrible.
"

____________________________________

link here:
http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2008/11/28/2008-11-28_worker_dies_at_long_island_walmart_after.html

It feels so good to have that nagging doubtful fear of Obama losing completely obliterated by tonight's results. Come what may, I feel like the flickering embers of the American fire has just been renewed into a flame again.

of all the little political cartoons and pictures Ive seen, this is one of my favorites.

damn straight Barack....damn straight.

A for effort.

the packaging for Of Montreal's "Skeletal Lamping" is without a doubt the most ridiculous housing unit ever designed for a compact disk. ever.

im not kidding, let me walk you through it:

1. take cellophane off newly purchased cd.
2. carefully slide out inner packaging from outer paper sleeve, mindful to not rip any of the small paper diecut outs that could get snagged.
3. fold 1st tabed slat/panel down.
4. fold 2nd flap up.
5. fold 3rd flap left.
6. fold 4th flap right.
7. now you can remove the disk from the weird gummy hub centered on the androgynous naked green woman, but the packaging isnt done yet.
8. fold 2nd flap's secondary flap up.
9. fold 3rd flap's upper flap out.
10. fold 3rd flap's lower flap out.
11. unfold the 3 left side flaps over left again (left side of packaging now has 6 panels showing)
12. repeat steps 9, 10, & 11 with the 4th flap from step 6. (right side now with 6 panels)
13. fold out any smaller pieces from left & right sides.

Thus ends the unfurling of the Skeletal Lamping Packaging. the result...well the side with the aforementioned androgynous naked green woman is something out of the little shop of horrors, if all scenes with killer plants were tripping on acid. and the other side is (flips it over) a continuation of the little shop killer plant lsd nightmare.

it also reminds me of the end of Akira...where Tetsuo's body expands out of his control and starts to eat everything. it looks like it would fit right in there. (must be all the teeth every where)

needless to say, that Ive thrown together a simpler artwork to put in a slim jewel case I plan on keeping the cd in so that I wont ever have to try and open this damn thing up in the car.

"TETSUUUUUUUO!!!!!"

"see you space cowboy..."

love it or hate it, its hard to deny that the creation of the Toonami programming block on cartoon network is one of the major factors in anime breaking completely into American mainstream. the success of Toonami led the way for even more mature anime to appear late night on Adult Swim. Toonami much like adult swim, has spent recent years in the shadow of its brighter days. and then out of the blue Saturday morning it was announced that toonami was done...with the broadcast that night. and with this...

<lj-embed id="3" />

....tom has left the airwaves.

im glad Steve Blum (voice of Tom & dozens of other anime characters, most famously spike speigel from cowboy bebop) sent the block off in such a great fashion.

Heres to discussions of DBZ like destruction taking place from the 15th floor of capstone into the side of the School of Business. To the overheard conversations of strangers leaving class in a hurried fashion to watch ronin warriors. For bringing back Voltron, Robotech, and Thundercats from the early morning cartoon graveyard. for making Gundam & Saiyan apart of my vocabulary. and more importantly for sparking my desire to seek out truly great anime in general, toonami has my thanks.

"im thinkin bla-dee-bla, bla blah"

I cant find anything interesting for background noise, so Ike coverage it is. that storm is a monster. good luck to all in its path.

____________________________________________________________

went to the doctor for the first time since.....hmmmm....well since Ive lived here (which by the way is 6 years as of 8.7.08) I usually get sick and recover with the help of whatever OTC meds I ingest, but this sinus thing Ive been dealing with would not yield to such measures. And after a rather miserable night of sleep wednesday, I thought two or more weeks of this is enough. Time to take a professional to task with this. and the results have been positive. I got a nice selection of free medication that has taken the brunt of the heavy dull feeling from my skull already. good stuff. heres hoping the continued use of these will send this funk packing.

______________________________________________

took the first step in some long thought about cd liquification this week. there was just alot of bands that I dont really listen too anymore, but didnt have the heart to sell. that was before I found out my car cd player can play "mp3 jukebox" disks. so Ive ripped & created two volumes of stuff thus far. and sold the originals to purchase...you guessed it...more cds.

_____________________________________

But the cds purchased from the sale of there ancestors, what a great bunch of stuff.

The Okkervil River- The Stand Ins
Calexico - Carried To Dust
Matthew Sweet - Sunshine Lies
The Walkmen - You & Me

Ive only had time for one full listen of each album so far, but based on that Id say im fairly happy with all of them. "The Stand Ins" isnt as fluid an album as "the stage names" but has alot of great uptempo stuff on it. "Carried to dust" is perfect last days of warm weather driving music. If I have a bone to pick with the matthew sweet it would be that it seems like just another matthew sweet album. That being said there is some fantastic guitar driven power pop on the disk, its just not anything ground breaking in the realm of matthew sweet albums. The Walkmen is in the player right now and I have to say Ive really heard some tracks that really got my attention driving around town. Cant wait to hear the rest of it really. that pretty much catches me up on newly released albums too. I think the next one im really looking forward too in the Of Montreal, but thats not till october.

_____________________

I was checking some recently added sale items today and discovered that "The Darjeeling Limited" PVD (previously viewed disk) was on sale for $1.99...so yeah, I own that. (even IF criterion gets to release this in the future, continuing there wes anderson devotion....I wont feel bad about having to buy it again at that price)

speaking of wes anderson and criterion....Bottle Rocket finally gets a proper release in November. woohoo.

____________

the McCain/Smokescreen ticket just kills me. I hold out hope that after putting up with 8 years of lies and general abuse of the american spirit that people will STOP LISTENING to it. I really hope so, but there seems to be alot of people who cant or wont believe a lie when they hear it.

-------

"im not scared, im outta here"

something old, something new

Ive been eyeing this seven samurai poster for a while now, and this Dark Night theatrical was just too sweet of a deal to pass up. (not to mention it was my absolute favorite of the many bad ass dark knight posters) And to think I didnt even know amazon delt in theatrical posters until a few weeks ago (check it out if you havent. search for a movie title under the home/garden section) now I have two more that I might purchase at some point in the future (when more wall space is available) but for now, im loving what Ive got up now.

so last spring or so we had a bit of wild fire out here where I live (took some pictures and posted them up back when) well when that happened apparently a baby deer was separated from its kin and took up living off the kindness of strangers. flash forward to now and you have bucky. (apparently some people call him bambi...but I think bucky suits him more) Ive seen him around and heard lots of stories from a woman I work with, he comes to there place all the time and eats flowers, fruits...birdfeeders, and ive seen him out back at night...or when driving home. so yesterday when I let the hound out he imagine my suprise to see him out back...playing with a cardboard box with his antlers. I put the hound inside at watched him for a while. walked towards him and he came towards me.

its was pretty cool really. never been that close to a deer before. hes so people friendly as well, kinda like a dog or horse. after a while he wanted to play and would run into me with his antlers. then he went back to eating berries of the back fence.
__________________________________________

spent most of today finalizing my summer mix disk, finishing the artwork and mass copying the disks. came together pretty nicely too. couple of last minute additions, songs I forgot about or songs found after years of near forgotteness rounded it out nicely. after that I shuffled through dozens upon dozens of emails from the inbox. not a tremendously important set of tasks for the day. but I feel accomplished either way.

------------------------------------------

still kicking myself over the wilco/fleet foxes show I didnt go to this week. especially since Ive become a rather avid listener of the fleet foxes album and ep. the wilco setlist for spokane was pretty impressive too. I just am not as adventurous as I used to be.

-------------------

obama/biden. just incase you didnt see a tv, or newspaper, or cell phone, or any other websites today.

-------

Space Ghost Coast to Coast fans rejoice. for the next few weeks adult swim (cartoon network) is again broadcasting from ghost planet. friday night late night (2am) finds two episodes back to back, so set your DVR's accordingly. the best part is that it seems they will be showing the 1999 season onwards. (last night was chambragine and snatch...man the1999 season cant come to dvd soon enough ...its so freaking good.)

"Im already smart enough to know this is working"

other Adult Swim news: VENTURE BROS. Season 3 Final episode sunday night. "why would you buckle up? WHY???"

---

....erm...all for now I guess.

...so in the kitchen doing dishes and I hear Os Mutantes "A Minah Menima" coming from the TV. the olympics were on the tv so I figured it was something related to that.

goddamn McDonalds commercial.

I think my heart just broke a little.

im not that big a fan of the olympics.

that being said, the 30 mins of the opening ceremony that have passed so far have been absolutely stunning. simply jaw dropping.

I hope your watching this too.
for the past few days, there hasnt been anything to stop me thinking about seeing The Dark Knight tommorow afternoon.

but since I got home today I have done little else but watch the just released teaser trailer for "Watchmen".

6 times in under 2 hours.

its going to be in front of TDK...but if you dont want to wait till then...

http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/watchmen/

this is what a trailer should be...chills...its giving me chills.

and now for lucky #7
